Scrolling or rapidly out of date print-outs are not acceptable, particularly when the schedule has to be viewed in its entirety during production planning and team meetings. |

The planning board provides a link, communicating information from a detailed software plan to an easy to read, overview of the complete schedule. This may be rapidly updated providing a 'big picture' of the current planned position enabling informed decisions or amendments to be confidently taken. | |
| However, a planning board may stand alone should software not provide the style or detail of visual information deemed essential to the smooth running of a department. These planning board designs need not to be complicated. | ||
